In case the constant robot disguises weren’t a dead giveaway, the guys of Daft Punk are that increasingly rare brand of superstar who have managed largely stay out of the public eye. Which is why the upcoming documentary Daft Punk Unchained is so highly anticipated, giving an inside look at the rise of French dance pioneers Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, with input from some of their friends and collaborators, including fellow stars Kanye West, Pharrell and Nile Rodgers.

Unmasked:: Daft Punk without their helmets, then and now

In a new trailer for the doc, those three artists are featured, with Kanye suggesting they’ve revolutionized dance music more than anyone. Giorgio Moroder, Michel Gondry and many others are also featured in the film, which of course will offer rare peeks at the guys without their helmets on. It’ll be out later this year after premiering already on France’s Canal+.
