Whether you’re a Madonna fan or not, you have to give her props when it comes to pushing the boundaries! Last night (September 24), the entertainer flaunted her “Unapologetic Bitch” attitude during the Philadelphia stop at the Rebel Heart World Tour.

Madge’s lovely version of “La Vie en Rose” is quickly becoming a concert highlight, and the singer decided to make the song’s performance a little more…religious. With Pope Francis cruising through the states on a visit, it was only appropriate that Madonna dedicated the French classic to the Pontifex.

While donning a sparkly flapper dress, the singer stated “Rules are for fools. That’s why I like the new pope. He seems very open-minded.” “I’ve been excommunicated from the Catholic Church three times. It shows the Vatican really cares,” she continued. Madonna joked about the “Popey-Wopey” stalking her and being secretly in love with her before singing “La Vie en Rose.”

Madonna has a long history of riling up the Vatican and Catholic church. Her 1989 video for “Like A Prayer” contained imagery that outraged religious leader, the infamous 1990 Blond Ambition Tour featured simulated masturbation which brought condemnation from the Vatican and Madge staged a mock crucifixion a few miles from the Vatican during the Confessions Tour in 2006. Most recently, Cristina Scuccia recorded her own version of the 1984 classic “Like A Virgin” last year.
