Carly Rae Jepsen's 'E·MO·TION': Review
Carly Rae Jepsen's new album is a pop nerd's dream.

Carly Rae Jepsen took over the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge recently with a lovely rendition of Years & Years‘ “King” and her own “Run Away With Me.” Now, John Newman is trying his hand at the popstress’ E·MO·TION single.

The UK crooner, who totally owned both his “Come And Get It” single and Calvin Harris collaboration on “Blame,” unfortunately does not hold his weight on Carly’s pop gem. Newman sounds a bit nervous and shaky, and cannot seem to capture the dreaminess of the original version. But he did add a soulful touch alongside a group of female background vocalists.

E·MO·TION was released on August 21 via Schoolboy Records/Interscope and September 25 in the UK. It features “I Really Like You,” “Your Type,” “All That”and the ’80s-inspired title track.
