Dawn Richard — or D∆WN as she is now known — really came into her own after the demise of Danity Kane. The 32-year-old established herself as an edgy alt-R&B diva on 2015 LP Blackheart and showed up all the major players with her dazzling visual approach. She now introduces album number three, The Red Era, with an electrifying club-banger called “Dance.” Penned by the ever-reliable Ester Dean, it’s an infectious and surprisingly accessible gem.

“I wanted to create a vibrant atmosphere,” D∆WN said in a press release. “The Red Era is about moving on, redeeming yourself, and finding redemption. It’s time for people to start feeling good and start embracing who they are while dancing in their own light. That time is now… Let’s DANCE!” Listen to the “Blow” singer’s Noisecastle III and Swagg R’Celious-produced track below.
