Robyn Released A Song Under A Pseudonym In May & Nobody Even Realized It

It seems unthinkable, but a new Robyn duet has been sitting on YouTube largely unnoticed for five months. It’s tied to the Australian thriller PartisanOneohtrix Point Never scored the soundtrack, and apparently he got several established artists to record under pseudonyms for the film. As part of the project, Robyn laid down a duet with Metronomy‘s Joseph Mount under the name Tony Primo and Nixxie, and it’s only now making the rounds.

That track, “The Hardest Thing To Do,” was posted with a video back in May when the film came out in Australia, but hardly anybody even realized who they were hearing. The movie hits US theaters on Friday (October 2), so the new wave of attention has finally put a spotlight on this hidden Robyn gem. It’s a breathy ballad featuring stylishly chintzy Casio presets and clean guitar licks straight out of the ’80s, and like her last two collaborative projects, it shows Robyn refuses to be pegged to one style.

Hear it with the accompanying lo-fi karaoke video below.
