Your Boring Uncle’s Fave Thinks Frank Ocean Is A “Talentless Prick” & Doesn’t Like Kanye Either

Don Henley is still salty about Frank Ocean‘s sampling of The Eagles‘ “Hotel California” for “American Wedding” off his Nostalgia, Ultra mixtape back in 2011. Henley has already expressed his bitterness about the unlicensed usage of the song, despite the fact that Ocean’s track wasn’t released commercially. But here we are four years after the fact and Henley has resorted to bashing this “sampling” nonsense all the kids are doing these days and calling Ocean “a talentless little prick” in the process.

More:: Is Frank Ocean putting together a dance album?

“Some of these young kids have grown up in a world that doesn’t understand or respect copyright material or intellectual property,” he told The Guardian in a new interview. “They look at songs as interactive playthings.”

Surely he’s aware that this is not a new thing. Nearly 30 years ago, kids like De La Soul and Beastie Boys were sampling so much that their albums would never have existed commercially in this day and age. Don Henley must know this. Don Henley would have to be an out-of-touch rockist to not know this.

Speaking of Ocean specifically, Henley added, “I didn’t think he was cool. I thought he was a talentless little prick. And I still do.”

And as we know, there’s nothing washed white rockers like more than trashing Kanye West (see: here, here), so Henley made sure to check that box, too.

“No, I’d be just as pissed off,” he said when asked if someone huge like Kanye had done the sampling. “I don’t like him, either…He’s either incredibly arrogant or incredibly insecure, or some combination of the two.” The thing is, Kanye has freely admitted his arrogance and insecurity in his own music so Henley, again, just comes off looking like an old crank living under (a) rock.

Take it easy, guy.
