Taylor Swift‘s special guest in Toronto on Friday (September 3) was the only act for whom she’s opened on a major tour. That would be country superstar Keith Urban, who took the stage to sing “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16,” the lead single off his upcoming album Fuse.

This song is a strange choice for a gig outside the United States, as it namechecks American icons (Tom Petty, John Wayne) and iconography (Pepsi Cola) throughout. But if Taylor owed anyone the chance to plug their new single, it would be Keith. Back in 2009, she paused her own Fearless tour to open for Keith for a handful of shows and, in one case anyway, prank the former Idol judge by storming the stage while dressed as a member of Kiss.
