POWERS Bring The Funk On “Legendary”: Idolator Premiere
After generating buzz with Spotify-conquering anthems “Beat Of My Drum” and “Loved By You,” POWERS pulled the trigger with “Hot” — a swaggering electro-pop adventure with a rowdy sing-along chorus. The rising duo follow it up with the title track of debut EP Legendary, which arrives on Friday (October 23). Only this time Crista Ru takes over vocal duties (Mike Del Rio sang lead on their last offering) on the defiant, funk-infused groove.
So what’s it all about? “If there’s anything we’ve learned as people it’s that you have to create your destiny, not expect it,” POWERS tell Idolator. “While the song/production is packaged in a blanket of future-funk nostalgia, the sincere sentiment of sacrifice and the struggle for what you love in life rings overwhelmingly true to both of us. That journey needs to be celebrated… That’s essentially what POWERS is all about. Celebrating all of those moments, good and bad.” Listen to the killer jam below.
