Adele Reveals '25'
The award-winning British singer announces her 2015 album & tracklist.

Adele has been long overdue for rescuing us from the mediocrity that is Pop Music In 2015, and today (October 23) she delivers the one-two punch of dropping new single “Hello” and premiering the music video for the song. She’s off to a great start, then.

One of the first things we see in the “Hello” visual is Adele returning to a long-empty house and whipping dust covers off old furniture, ready to confront an intense past teeming with emotional wreckage. It’s a metaphor for both the former relationship she’s seeking closure for in the “Hello” lyrics and the fact that, finally, Adele The Artist is ready to re-plant both feet firmly into the pop game, picking up where she so gloriously left off with her mega-selling, Grammy-winning blockbuster 21 in 2011 and Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning James Bond theme song “Skyfall” one year later.

The young man who plays Adele’s lost object of affection in the Xavier Dolan-directed video is Tristan Wilds. Both Adele and Wilds cut stunning figures as the flood of memories of their former union, first sweet and then ultimately heart-wrenching, splashes across the screen.

In the end, Wilds is left standing alone in the pouring rain, while Adele must face another sobering element, on her own: the force of regret, ever present like the wind.

Welcome back, Adele. We needed you.
