Pia Mia Rides The Tropical Wave On Bouncy Banger “Touch”: Listen

If anyone’s qualified to ride the topical wave currently sweeping pop radio, it’s Pia Mia. The 19-year-old grew up on the island of Guam and knows a thing or two about sunny days and sandy beaches. That authenticity really shines through on “Touch” — a bouncy banger in the vein of Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” (BLOOD had a hand in both tracks). However, there’s a softness and vulnerability to the teenager’s new single that sets it apart.

Co-written by Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels (Selena Gomez’s “Good For You”), “Touch” finds Pia longing for a little attention. “Every now and then I get a little lonely,” she pines over blurry beats. “I can hold myself but no, it’s not the same thing.” Paring those lyrics with squiggly, exotic synths was a bold move that works exceptionally well. This is what nursing a bruised heart in paradise sounds like. Listen to the gem below.
