Rachel Platten Interview
Rachel Platten talks breakthrough hit "Fight Song," her EP and long road to the top.

Rachel Platten is the feel-good pop story of 2015. After 12 years of close calls and false starts, the 34-year-old finally broke through with “Fight Song.” The serotonin-raising anthem reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold double platinum (it performed even better internationally, topping the charts in the UK and peaking at number two in Australia). More importantly, it was embraced as a theme song for people battling illness or other misfortune.

The persistent diva’s follow-up single is a similarly uplifting experience. Co-written by Jack Antonoff and Joy Williams, “Stand By You” is the musical equivalent of a hug or sympathy card. It’s also extremely catchy and easy to sing along to as you can tell from Rachel’s adorable performance on X Factor Australia. She positively beams as she belts out the song to a sea of raised hands. Watch up top.
