When Lana Del Rey isn't covered in glitter in her latest video, she's dancing in water.

Daniel Johnston gained a cult following with his lo-fi, fractured pop songs. (Kurt Cobain was often seen wearing one of his t-shirts.) His life story — in particular, his struggles with unrequited love and manic depression — has inspired several documentaries. The latest, Hi How Are You Daniel Johnston, is supported by none other than Lana Del Rey.

Hi How Are You‘s debut trailer previews her heady cover of Daniel’s “Some Things Last a Long Time.” This rendition will also be featured in “an original score of orchestral Daniel Johnston songs,” according to the short film’s official website.

In 2013, she and then-boyfriend Barrie James O’Neill donated $10,000 to the film’s Kickstarter campaign. Her pledge reward? An executive producer credit, a film and soundtrack download, and a photo of herself drawn by Daniel himself. “There’s no telling Daniel what or how to draw you, but it’ll be made for you by Daniel and it’ll be cool,” the Kickstarter page says.
