Lana Del Rey‘s cover of Daniel Johnston‘s “Some Things Last A Long Time” was previewed in the trailer for the latest documentary about the underground music icon, and now the song has premiered in full.

The short film Hi, How Are You Daniel Johnston?, which premieres online November 11, was partly funded by Lana when she donated $10,000 to the project’s Kickstarter in 2013. So in addition to laying down a track for the movie, she gets whatever perks that contribution guarantees (including a sketch of herself by Johnston). As for the cover, it’s not quite as spare as the 1990 original, as she gives it a folkier feel by replacing the piano with acoustic guitar. Even though that’s a departure from Honeymoon‘s loungey, moonlit drama-pop, it’s still right in her wheelhouse.

Listen below.

By the way, now Lana has covered both Kurt Cobain and one of Cobain’s favorite musicians.
