Pop Perspective: Ariana Grande's "Focus"
The Idolator editors review and rate Ariana Grande's "Focus" out of 10.

Ariana Grande’s new single “Focus” debuted at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. That’s an impressive feat for any artist, but sales figures were a little disappointing (the song owes its lofty debut to huge streaming numbers) and it’s currently free-falling down iTunes. To put things into perspective, 2014 hit “Problem” sold 438,000 downloads in seven days. The pint-sized diva’s latest single sold 113,000 over the same time period.

It’s not surprising then that Ariana has returned to the studio to tinker on third LP Moonlight. She posted pics from a session with super producer Max Martin on Snapchat and spoke about the album in an interview with BBC Radio 1 personality Grimmy. The 22-year-old assured fans that “the best is definitely yet to come” and revealed that there’s only one collaboration on the opus, which is surprising given the slew of features on My Everything.
