Justin Bieber has added more dates to his tour promoting 'Purpose.'

Justin Bieber says that he relates to Amy Winehouse because of the media scrutiny they faced.

“People see the glam and the amazing stuff, but they don’t know the other side,” he reveals in NME‘s latest cover story. “This life can rip you apart. I watched the Amy Winehouse documentary [Amy] on the plane and I had tears in my eyes because I could see what the media was doing to her, how they were treating her. People thought it was funny to poke her when she was at rock bottom, to keep pushing her down until she had no more of herself. And that’s what they were trying to do to me.”

Justin also says that he is “struggling to get through the days,” though Kanye West gave him some sound advice: “Make music so good people can’t hate on it.”

This isn’t the first time the 21-year-old has compared his plight to another pop star’s. In January 2014, shortly after he was arrested for a DUI and drag-racing, he posted side-by-side photos of himself and Michael Jackson, captioned, “What more can they say.” Songwriter and frequent collaborator Poo Bear would later say that Justin was wrongfully arrested: “We were going about 28 in a 35.”

Both Justin Bieber’s new Purpose album and NME‘s latest issue is out November 13.
