LunchMoney Lewis made the leap from songwriter-for-hire to break-out pop star.

This past spring, when Meghan Trainor was gearing up for The M Train Tour, she wanted to cover one song in particular: “Bills” by LunchMoney Lewis.

“It’s so good. It’s going to be the new ‘All About That Bass,’ I believe,” she said to MTV, before she went ahead and sang a few verses. Unfortunately that would be the only instance where the Title singer did that cover, as she was forced to cancel her tour due to vocal cord surgery.

Yesterday, however, Meghan hints that she did one better. She posted a picture of herself with the Dr. Luke‘s Kemosabe Records signee, hinting that they hit the studio together. “Got home and cried like a baby tonight because of how excited I am for the future and this new album,” she says.

As dramatic as that sounds, her reaction does make some sense: Not only would the zippy big-band sound of “Bills” be a natural fit for Meghan, but LunchMoney has already proven that he can write great hooks with Fifth Harmony‘s “Bo$$” and Nicki Minaj‘s “Trini Dem Girls.” See Meghan’s post below.
