Björk’s “Mouth Mantra” Video Was Filmed Inside Her Mouth: Watch

Björk‘s new “Mouth Mantra” video starts out with the grotesque pink folds and wetness of arthroscopic surgery footage, and that’s because most of it was actually filmed inside her mouth. The anatomical experience was directed by Jesse Kanda, who has also done warped body-centric visuals for Arca and FKA twigs.

And for any squeamish viewers, eventually they’re given relief with a dance sequence that closes things out. Here’s what Björk told Dazed about the latest Vulnicura video:

i am so extremely grateful to jesse to be up for going on this journey …. it was brave of him to take it on and i feel spoiled having witnessed him grow , making hi tech mouth models and inventing cameras all to match a little therapeutic song about the throat . his dedication and devotion is overwhelming !!! i am especially grateful for those sassy dancefloor moments we managed to squeeze in there aswell : true magic !!

Check it out below, and be on the lookout for the 360-degree version which will be released alongside Björk’s two other Vulnicura videos on a virtual reality app she’s launching soon.
