Carly Rae Jepsen's 'E·MO·TION': Review
Find out what we had to say about Carly Rae Jepsen's third album 'E•MO•TION.'

Carly Rae Jepsen’s third LP E•MO•TION was met with near-universal praise and features prominently on most Best Of 2015 lists including our own. However, it was a commercial disaster. The album debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200 with a sales tally of just over 16,000 copies and had plummeted to number 67 by the following week. With the exception of Japan, the indie-leaning pop opus didn’t do much better internationally.

Not that it bothers the 30-year-old. “I feel quite happy with how the record’s done, to be honest,” Carly told BuzzFeed. “I don’t really compare it to Kiss or whatever I’m gonna do next. That’s not where my attention goes. I feel really lucky that people have received it so well and that it has sold any amount.” That sentiment is echoed by manager Scooter Braun, who sees the album as a stepping stone.

“For us, domestically, yeah, it was… it was… I won’t say it was disappointing, it was expected, and now we have a job to do,” the mastermind behind Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s careers told the website. “Carly did her job. She gave an incredible album that she’s incredibly proud of, and I will be so proud for the rest of my life knowing I’m associated with it.” The Canadian diva is now hoping to revive interest in the LP with her 2016 Gimme Love Tour.
