Mariah Carey’s ‘Merriest Christmas’: Watch Highlights From Her Hallmark TV Special
Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas” may not be the most played holiday song this year. (That distinction goes to the Shins‘ rendition of “Wonderful Christmastime,” which, huh.) But she remains, as The New York Times once put it, “as close as pop music has to an official voice for the holiday,” which she reestablished during her December 19 Hallmark Channel takeover.
Following Mariah’s self-directed movie A Christmas Melody came the TV music special Merriest Christmas. The ever-Elusive Chanteuse‘s set list included 2010’s “Christmas Time Is In the Air Again,” for which she brought out Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds (and is lovely as a duet). But of course, no Mariah Carey Christmas would be complete without her 1994 classic, which had the audience singing along in a moment of pure joy — “All I want for Christmas is youuu.”
