If you were actually out in Nashville last night (December 23) during the city’s tornado warnings, you may have heard Kesha performing live. At the last minute, the starlet announced a surprise gig at local venue Springwater with her new group — the Yeast Infection. (The other members appear to be men — which, bless them.)

The plan, alt-weekly Nashville Scene reports, was to do country renditions of Kesha’s own pop hits. But the Yeast Infection also covered Led Zeppelin‘s 1969 single “Whole Lotta Love,” to the slight despair of singer-songwriter Jason Isbell but also an enthusiastic crowd nonetheless.

Kesha’s mom Pebe Sebert helped announce the surprise gig, and after responding to a TMZ news report about how, despite what Kesha’s lawyers say, Sony doesn’t think the singer’s “window of opportunity is nearly shut.” (Allegedly, the label’s argument is that AdeleJustin Timberlake and D’Angelo benefited from taking longer breaks in between albums.) In the midst of Kesha’s messy legal battle against Dr. Luke, who she sued for sexual assault last year, Sony rejected an appeal that would allow the singer to record new music without him.

So, while Kesha cannot record new songs without dealing with her alleged abuser, at least she has found other ways to enjoy doing music regardless, and with a sense of humor at that. See the Yeast Infection pose outside Springwater below.
