Sizzy Rocket’s “Need Somebody” Sizzles: Premiere

Just yesterday (January 7) we posted the year’s first roundup of pop newcomers, and Sizzy Rocket was one of the five featured artists. (Go hear them all!) The New York transplant has been toiling away as a songwriter for the past few years, but in recent months she decided to unleash her own batch of brash, plush party-pop about bad kids and good sex. And if that doesn’t hit Idolator’s sweet spot then nothing does, which is why we’re premiering her new song, “Need Somebody.”

But for this track she tones things down. It’s a warm piece of synth-and-slap-bass bedroom funk that’s not too far removed from a Dev Hynes or Ariel Rechtshaid production. Sultry vocals match the smooth arrangement, but for the impassioned chorus she injects some grit into the proceedings.

Check it out below, and be on the lookout for Sizzy Rocket’s debut album Thrills this spring.
