Shakira returns to the pop scene today (January 8) with her first English-language single in two years. “Try Everything” is taken from the soundtrack of upcoming Disney blockbuster Zootopia and finds the Colombian superstar in a typically positive mood. “I won’t give up, no I won’t give in until I reach the end and then I’ll start again,” she sings in the perky chorus. “No. I won’t leave, I wanna try everything even though I could fail.”

The 38-year-old spends the rest of the song singing words of encouragement (“look how far you’ve come, you’ve filled your heart with live” and “baby you’ve done enough, take a deep breathe”) and delivering trademark vocal hooks. The tone is very light and the production is a little too child-friendly, but it’s always great to hear something new from Shakira. With any luck, her 11th LP will arrive later this year. Listen to “Try Everything” below.
