Our take on the loss of pop and rock's one-of-a-kind, unrivaled chameleon.

Given her stellar showing these past two months with new album 25, it’s no surprise that Adele stands to win four Brit Awards. The 27-year-old singer was recognized in the British Female Solo Artist, British Single (“Hello”), British Album Of The Year (25) and British Artist Video Of The Year categories. Adele is scheduled to perform during the show’s telecast, as well.

Also nominated for four Brits this year are 25-year-old “Let It Go” singer James Bay and synth-pop trio Years & Years, both having released their debut albums in 2015.

Interestingly, the late Amy Winehouse, whose last proper studio LP was released nearly 10 years ago, is also nominated for British Female Solo Artist. Asif Kapadia‘s documentary on the singer, titled Amy, was released last summer to acclaim from critics — it currently holds a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes — but was met with a less than stellar response from Winehouse’s family.

The event will be staged at London’s O2 Arena on February 24. Geoff Taylor, CEO of BPI, told BBC News that a David Bowie tribute is being developed for the event, following the musician’s death on Sunday (December 10). “We’re still developing it, but we have some firm ideas and we’re involving the right people,” Taylor explained. “I’m not going to go into the details — but we are very focused on honoring his legacy to British music.”
