Editorial: Farewell To David Bowie
Our take on the loss of pop and rock's one-of-a-kind, unrivaled chameleon.

We’ve finally reached the weekend, Idolator readers! The past few days were filled with major music moments, which kicked off with Lady Gaga and Sam Smith taking home awards at the 2016 Golden Globes.

Adam Lambert announced his international tour dates, while Adele rapped Nicki Minaj‘s “Monster” verse alongside James Corden. The Spice Girls confirmed their 20th anniversary reunion (without Posh) and the 2016 Oscars nominations were revealed.

But the biggest news of this week was the tragic passing of the icon David Bowie. On Idolator’s end, we gathered his most historic looks into a gallery, wrote a heartfelt editorial, rounded up celebrity tributes and more. We also published our Silent Shout column, which was also a nod to the late artist.

And of course, our readers spoke their minds on the going-ons in the frantic music world. Read some of the best and shadiest comments below!

:: Ice Warrior was #TeamSam on Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall” Wins Best Original Song At The 2016 Golden Globes: “I don’t get why people are hating on the SPECTRE theme. It’s classic Bond – swooning orchestra, introspective lyrics and a polished feel. Congrats to Sam for winning. See You Again on the other hand was trite and overly sentimental. The fact that it did well commercially was nothing short of mass emotional blackmail for Paul Walker’s unfortunate death. A song isn’t necessarily good just because it is popular.”

:: While Victor Watson was #TeamYeezy on Cancel It: Kanye West’s ‘SWISH’ Will Have Input From The Kardashians: Kanye has always asked opinions of other people in the studio. Its not that deep. Don’t be a hypebeast. This dude used to ask the pizza guy his opinion when he would deliver to the studio during MBDTF.

:: Joey was totally amped on Bonnie McKee’s “Wasted Youth” Video Is A Wild, Nostalgic Ride: An incredible video for an incredible song. Of the three most underrated pop girls (Kesha, Carly Rae and Bonnie), Bonnie really might be the MOST overlooked. Her look & sound is EVERYTHING. This video is everything I could possibly want my life to be. GODnnie McLegend tbh.

:: henryhorker made us chuckle on Bananarama’s Unreleased 1993 Cover Of David Bowie’s “Changes” Has Leaked, And It’s Guilty-Pleasure Gold: “Oof. I’m already having a rough week with Bowie’s death and all, and now this?? It sounds like the soundtrack of a mid-80s summer sale ad for J.C. Penny’s.”

:: Jay welcomed change on Ariana Grande’s ‘Moonlight’ Might Be Getting A Name Change: “I always felt like the album title sounded like a children’s album full of lullabies, so this is actually good news.”

:: Lastly, Melman the Mythran was transcending on Iggy Azalea Teases Second ‘Digital Distortion’ Buzz Track “Middle Man”: “OH MY GOD ITS HEAVEN MY SOUL IS READY TAKE ME NOW I NEED THIS”
