Mariah Carey offered her sincere condolences to Celine Dion on social media, in light of her husband René Angéli‘s death.

Last night (January 15) Mariah posted a photo of the couple and wrote, “Dear Celine, I’m heartbroken for you and your family upon hearing about the [devastating] news about René. I know there’s nothing I can say to take the pain away but I’m sure the memories will comfort you now and always.  My deepest condolences to you and your family. Love always, Mariah.”

René passed away on January 14 after a long battle with throat cancer. His funeral will be held at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, where he and Celine got married in 1994 — his final wishes, according to a Facebook update by Celine.
