Demi Lovato is ushering the new year by looking more fresh-faced than ever on the cover of Allure magazine. For the February issue, the “Cool For The Summer” songstress discusses the reason why she’ll continue the topic of eating disorders as well wanting personal space.

For the Alexi Lubomirski-photographed shoot, Demi shows off her “Confident” side while rocking lacy lingerie, form-fitting gowns and a bold red lip. The look suits the singer’s newfound outspoken personality.

“I’ll have people who are like, ‘Stop talking about eating disorders. Like, we get it. You struggled. Now shut up’,” Demi tells Allure. “I’m sure they get tired of reading about it, because I get tired of talking about it, but this summer I started wearing sexier stuff, and I got some hate for that—like, ‘You’ve changed.’ It’s like, What’s wrong with being confident enough to wear this?”

The 23-year-old, who recently celebrated her six-year anniversary with boyfriend Wilder Valderrama, is also planning to tighten her personal space. “I don’t want to alienate my love life from the public, because it’s such a huge part of who I am. It’s a balancing act. I can’t always let people in as much as they feel like they deserve to be let in.”
