Rachel Platten Interview
Rachel Platten talks breakthrough hit "Fight Song," her EP and long road to the top.

Rachel Platten was the most unlikely break-out star of 2015. After 12 years of knocking on doors, the 34-year-old landed an unexpected hit with a self-help anthem aimed squarely at the adult contemporary market. Only “Fight Song” took on a life of its own and became a multi-genre smash. She now proves it was no fluke with the success of Joy Williams and Jack Antonoff co-penned single “Stand By You.”

With the mid-tempo ballad firmly ensconced in the iTunes top 20, it’s clear that Rachel’s uplifting brand of pop has found an audience. She recently belted out an acoustic version of “Stand By You” on Australian TV (watch above) and it’s every bit as earnest and empowering as you would imagine. Her major label debut LP Wildfire debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 in early January.
