Nice Life does it again. The West Coast label that birthed Lazyboy Empire’s mysterious “Vampire” delivers another gem with Imad Royal’s “Down For Whatever.” Featuring New Orleans rapper Pell, the hip-hop/pop hybrid is built around a breezy sample loop that sounds like it was rescued from the 1960s. It speaks volumes for the D.C. singer/producer’s skill that it blends so effortless with the distinctly modern hi-hats and fluttery synths.

“We can chill at home, take off each other’s clothes it’s whatever,” the newcomer sings sweetly. “Or kick it at the beach, get some sand under our feet it’s whatever.” That romantic vibe carries through to the catchy chorus, which lodges firmly in your brain after the first listen. Imad first made waves with 2015 viral hits “Troubles” and “Passenger.” Listen to his latest track below.
