Jermaine Dupri Thinks He Can Make Chris Brown “One Of The Biggest Stars In The World”
Jermaine Dupri thinks he can pull Chris Brown out of a mid-career slump. “The world needs Chris Brown and Jermaine Dupri to do a record,” the producer told Hip Hollywood. “I think it’s in the air some kind of way for it to happen at some point. I believe he got what it takes to be one of the biggest stars in the world but he just hasn’t found the producer that really can lock in with him to bring his music to life.”
Why isn’t Breezy jumping at the opportunity? “We talked about it a couple of times,” the hitmaker admits. “I think just because I worked with Usher he’s been kind of like hesitant, but I feel like people know me as a producer. I make my suits specifically for that person. My Mariah music don’t sound like Usher music and Usher’s music don’t sound like Mariah’s music. So if I made a record for Chris Brown it very well wouldn’t sound like either one of those other ones.”
The R&B singer should give JD a call. His 7th LP Royalty is shaping up to be the lowest-selling album of his career. The only single from it that has come close to being a hit is current cut “Back To Sleep.” In other words, he needs all the help he can get at this point. Watch the interview below.
