Carly Rae Jepsen To Sing Original New Song For 'Grease: Live'
The singer will play beauty-school dropout Frenchy.

Carly Rae Jepsen is continuing her welcomed pop reign in 2016, as she plans to branch out into acting. The artist will be starring in FOX’s Grease: Live musical, and she stopped by Live With Kelly & Michael today (January 26) to discuss the new venture.

The “Your Type” songstress reminisces on meeting the original Frenchy (played by Didi Conn) with the hosts. “I was very intimidated by the idea of meeting Didi just because it was like covering someone’s song in front of them. But meeting her actually did the opposite of what I expected; it kind of gave me the confidence that I think I needed. She is just so lovely and so supportive,” she said.

Calling Conn her “fairy godmother,” Carly went on to share the advice the actor gave her while on set. Along with starring in Grease: Live, the artist will embark on her Gimmie Love Tour in support of last year’s E·MO·TION LP on February 12. The singer reveals that Japan is her favorite tour spot (it has a bit to do with avocado toast).

Check out Carly’s Live With Kelly & Michael interview, where she also discusses being on Canadian Idol and the winter season, below.
