Ahead of Coldplay‘s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance on Sunday (February 7), the band’s frontman Chris Martin appeared on The Late Late Show for a round of carpool karaoke with host James Corden. They ran through some of Coldplay’s biggest hits like “Yellow” and “Viva La Vida,” but the real treat is seeing Martin cover David Bowie‘s “Heroes” — partly because just a few days ago it was revealed that he once approached Bowie to collaborate and the legend politely declined.

Martin busts out a cheap little keyboard to help him with the timeless 1977 hit, and when it’s over he gives a simple “Thanks, Dave.” The affable singer also whipped out some pretty spot-on impressions of Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen.
