Sam Smith and pal/frequent co-writer Jimmy Napes attended the 88th Annual Academy Awards nominee luncheon on Monday (February 8) in Beverly Hills. Both penned “Writing’s On The Wall,” the theme song from recent James Bond film  Spectre, which is up for a Best Original Song Oscar this year alongside Lady Gaga‘s  “Til It Happens to You” from the documentary The Hunting Ground, The Weeknd’s “Earned It” from Fifty Shades of Grey, J. Ralph and Antony’s “Manta Ray” from Racing Extinction and David Lang’s “Simple Song No. 3″ from Youth.

Smith and Napes each picked up several Grammys in 2015 for music they worked on for Sam’s debut LP. (Jimmy also nabbed a Grammy for co-writing Clean Bandit‘s “Rather Be.”) In January, the pair won the Golden Globe for their Spectre theme song, as well. A foretelling of what’s to come on Oscar night, perhaps?
