Future Hit: 99 Souls' "The Girl Is Mine"
UK DJs 99 Souls sample Destiny's Child and Brandy on future hit "The Girl Is Mine."

What is it with German DJs and hit-producing deep house remixes? Robin Schulz transformed Mr Probz’s “Waves” into an international smash, while Felix Jaehn’s overhaul of “Cheerleader” marched all the way to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. HEYHEY (a colleague of Schulz’s) should follow in their footsteps with an expert update of Gabrielle Aplin’s “Salvation” — a forgotten gem from the Brit’s critically-acclaimed debut LP English Rain.

A stripped-back piano ballad with an introspective chorus, “Salvation” isn’t your typical candidate for a remix. Which is probably why it works so well. HEYHEY stays largely true to the original, creating a dreamy soundscape around Gabrielle’s hushed vocal. The unlikely pair unveiled the visual today (February 12) and it’s comprised of footage from the singer/songwriter’s 2014 music video. Watch her twirl around an abandoned warehouse with a mystery man up top.
