Kesha Fans Express Outrage At Verdict
Kesha's fans express their outrage on Twitter when a judge ruled in favor of Dr. Luke.

Actions speak louder than words, at least as Taylor Swift sees it. On February 21, she became the latest celebrity to back Kesha amidst her legal battle with producer Dr. Luke and his Sony imprint Kemosabe, though not by taking to Twitter.

“In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time,” a rep wrote in a statement, according to Rolling Stone.

Kesha’s mother Pebe Sebert confirmed the news on Twitter. “A persons [sic] wealth is not measured by what they have but by WHO they help with it. And Taylor Swift is a truly RICH PERSON. Thank you,” she said, adding, “Most important for Kesha is that these beautiful, powerful women are standing behind her, letting the world see how powerful truth is!”

On February 18, Kesha was denied an injunction to sever ties with Sony and Kemosabe Records, after filing a lawsuit claiming that producer Dr. Luke “sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abused” her for a decade. Meanwhile people tweeted at Taylor, egging her on for a response, purportedly because she had become a vocal feminist with the release of 1989 (see also: her 2016 Grammys acceptance speech).

“What about Kesha? You fight for musicians rights when it comes to getting paid, but not when a woman’s health is on the line?” one person said.

“You’re asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry,” New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich said when she rejected Kesha’s request. But the case isn’t over just yet, not until either she and Dr. Luke and Kemosabe settle, or the court decides it to be over.
