The organizers behind the 2016 ESSENCE Festival aren’t playing around. Today (March 1) it was announced that Mariah Carey and Kendrick Lamar will join Maxwell to headline the event, which will take place June 30 – July 3 at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

Kendrick and Maxwell are returning to ESSENCE, both with new music on the horizon: The former’s label TDE has teased a new album for a 2016 release, while the latter is finally set to release the next album in the blackSUMMERS’night trilogy he launched in 2010. Meanwhile Mariah, the ever-Elusive Chanteuse, will head there while on break from her Las Vegas #1 to Infinity residency at Caesar’s Palace.

Other featured performers include Ciara, DeJ Loaf, Estelle, JeremihKelly Price, The Internet, Leon Bridges, Lion Babe and Tink — for now, anyway. More are to be announced soon.
