As we mentioned yesterday (March 1), Britney Spears covers V Magazine’s 100th issue, and a preview of the story claimed she’s putting the “finishing touches” on her new album. Today, the John Norris-penned feature went live, and it provides a few more hints about the B9 era. (Also, interesting tidbit: During the photo shoot she listened to Madonna, Janet Jackson and Selena Gomez.)

After initially saying she “really can’t talk about” the Britney Jean follow-up, Spears did divulge a few clues about how it’s coming together and what direction it’s going in, calling it “very different” and “the best thing” she’s done in a long time.

“I’m being more hands-on with this one,” the star told Norris. “Honestly, I’m just particular with this record. It’s my baby, and so I really want it done right.” As for a timeframe? Well, later this year her revamped Vegas show will include songs from the forthcoming album, but otherwise there’s no concrete forecast for the LP.

“I would much rather have it be completely how I want it to be, whether that takes another year for me to do, or two months,” Spears explained. “I have no idea at this point. But I just know that the direction I’m going in is so good. It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I’m proud of the work, and it’s very different; it’s not what you would think at all. But I’m not rushing anything. I just want it to be done right, so that my fans will truly appreciate it.”
