Madonna’s Tears Of A Clown Show: 10 Images From The Intimate Melbourne Gig

It’s been 23 years since Madonna gyrated on stage in Australia — when her Girlie Show tour went Down Under in 1993. To make up for lost time, the Material Girl gave a special late, late nigh performance, dubbed Tears Of A Clown, at Melbourne’s Forum, on Thursday (March 10).

Madge hit the stage some time around midnight, reportedly leaving fans stuck outside standing in rain for hours. It didn’t seem to matter — the pop queen tore through her biggest hits and songs she rarely performs live, such as “Take A Bow” and “Drowned World/Substitute For Love.”

“She made her entrance on a tiny tricycle, dressed in a clown-like outfit of yellow swing tunic and pink and white striped stockings,” writes the Sydney Morning Herald. The paper summed Madonna’s Tears Of A Clown gig up as “a combination of relaxed insight, frank reflection and some seriously daggy gags.”

Check out fan photos and video of Madge clowning it up below.
