At a time when hip-hop artists have been politically charged once again, Jay Z has been relatively silent. If other rappers aren’t addressing their concerns in song, like “Reagan” rapper and Bernie Sanders wingman Killer Mike, then they air out their views on Instagram like T.I., who recently said to Donald Trump, “I say this as nonviolently but unapologetically as possible: F*ck you and f*ck what you stand for.”

According to Last Week Tonight host John Oliver, however, Jay Z is about ready to make a statement. Recently his team made “Make Donald Drumpf Again” hats (above) to spoof the Republican presidential nominee’s own “Make America Great Again” caps. As John tells fellow late night TV host Stephen Colbert, Jay Z’s team recently reached out and asked for one. For free.

“Apparently Jay Z’s people called HBO asking for a hat,” John said. “I’ll say this for a start: Buy the hat, Jay Z. Jay Z wanted one for free. He’s done very well — spring for a hat. Let it trickle down. That’s how economics works, right?”

But Oliver didn’t seem completely against the celebrity endorsement: “I did say, ‘Well, be careful, because if he puts that on in public, you’re gonna need more hats. And if his wife puts it on in public, we are no longer a TV show, we’re a hat-manufacturing company.” Watch below.
