Pet Shop Boys’ “The Pop Kids” Gets A Housey Remix Overhaul By MK: Listen

Way back in 1993, Marc Kinchen, then one of the the world’s go-to remix wizards, put his spin on Pet Shop Boys‘ lead Very single “Can You Forgive Her.” The result was, as you might expect, a gurgling and bleeping foray into early ’90s house.

Twenty-three years and eight Pet Shop Boys albums later, Kinchen is back in demand as a renowned DJ and remixer, and Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe will officially release two digital packages for lead Super single “The Pop Kids” this Friday (March 18) — including a remix one featuring an “MK dub.”

Says Mixmag, who premiered Kinchen’s new remix, “With MK at the wheel, the original sheds its heavier, ’90s-influenced layer for a signature round of Marc Kinchen’s high hat beat, making ‘The Pop Kids’ remix a timeless combination of perspectives from both the Pet Shop Boys and MK.”

Two other remixes for “The Pop Kids” were done by Offer Nissim and the Pet Shop Boys themselves. Grab both the single and remix packages this Friday, and pick up Super on April 1.
