Taylor Swift’s Music Videos Are More Popular Than TV
Taylor Swift is more popular than television. According to Variety, a new Nielsen research study commissioned by Vevo finds that Swift’s music videos brought in a larger audience than network TV shows.
According to the study, over 18 million people watched Swift’s music videos the week her video for “Bad Blood” premiered. On TV, only NCIS: Los Angeles garnered a larger audience. This doesn’t really come as a surprise, considering two of her music videos, “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space,” have accrued over one billion views on Vevo, and considering music videos are just a three-minute commitment and are available wherever you are, via your phone.
Swift wasn’t the only artist with a network-sized audience on Vevo: Drake‘s videos tallied nearly six million views the week his meme-ready “Hotline Bling” video premiered, beating a number of shows. In similar company was his go-to-collaborator Rihanna, whose NSFW video for “BBHMM” drew in a similar amount of viewers.
