Tinashe Calls Out Her Record Label
Tinashe thinks RCA is too focussed on promoting Zayn Malik's debut album.

Tinashe has been surprisingly frank about her uneasy relationship with RCA Records. She called the label out for devoting their attention to Zayn Malik in a group chat with fans and openly discussed leaking tracks from sophomore LP Joyride to get the ball rolling. The 23-year-old’s latest confession? It wasn’t her idea to collaborate with Chris Brown on misfiring 2015 single “Player.” Chris is, he was on a list of people I always wanted to collaborate with,” Tee begins an interview with ET Canada.

“He heard the record, he really loved the record and it was really just that simple.” She then leans in and whispers,”It was really the label, it wasn’t me.” The revelation seems a little tongue-in-cheek, but it’s hard to tell at this point. Tinashe then talks about the direction of her delayed album. “I think that Joyride is an evolution as far as where I’ve grown from with the release of Aquarius. It still feels like it’s in the same place, but I’ve grown a lot just as a person and as an artist in this past couple of years or whatever.”

“I’ve travelled a lot, I’ve seen a lot and I’ve really kind of taken that and put it back into the music. It shows who I’ve been and who I am and where I’ve come from, but it’s also an evolution and where I’m going.” You can watch the interview here.
