Shawn Mendes Covers ‘Notion’ Magazine, Talks Justin Bieber Rivalry
Shawn Mendes is suitably dreamy on the cover of Notion magazine’s 72nd issue (below). The 17-year-old looks like the proverbial Boy Next Door with his denim jacket and neat haircut, which is a large part of his appeal. He seems genuinely down to earth and relatable. That also comes through in the cover story, which finds the “Stitches” hitmaker talking about girls (“I really like brunettes”) and fellow Canuck Justin Bieber.
“It feels awesome to be up there at Number One no matter who I’m booting off, I can’t believe it!” Shawn says of replacing Justin at the top of the charts. As for that rivalry (the “What Do You Mean” superstar threw a little shade during a radio interview)? “I’ve hung with Justin a little bit, he’s a great guy,” he raves. “Sometimes things are hard and go wrong but props to him for turning it around and making a comeback, it’s impressive.”
