AJR Return With “I’m Not Famous”: Idolator Premiere

It’s been a minute since we heard new music from AJR, the trio of brothers that stormed the Billboard Hot 100 in 2014 with “I’m Ready.” That SpongeBob SquarePants-sampling anthem went on to sell platinum — not bad for a track recorded in the band’s living room! They backed that up with a well-received debut LP early last year, but have been keeping a low profile of late. That changes today with the premiere of “I’m Not Famous,” which hits iTunes on March 25.

“We wanted to write a quirky pop song with some ironic social commentary about the upsides of not being famous,” Adam says of their latest earworm. “We felt like our last album, Living Room, really focused on diverse production,” Ryan adds. “Now with this next evolution of AJR, we wanted to expand that creativity to lyrics. We’ve spent the last year writing the most honest, blatant, unique lyrics.” A claim that’s supported by the song’s opening line: “Where my haters? Where my haters? I don’t got ’em, I’m not famous.” Listen to the extremely catchy tune below.
