Zayn Malik Performs “Like I Would” On The ‘Tonight Show’: Watch
Just before Zayn Malik released his solo debut Mind of Mine at midnight today (March 25), he performed deluxe edition highlight “Like I Would” — his “Rock Your Body,” essentially — on the Tonight Show.
While Mind of Mine is airy and mellow enough to where Zayn can sound detached, he seemed dead-set during this late-night TV gig to prove that he can lead a band, and not be restricted by his boy band past. (Bye, One Direction.) While backed by house hip-hop act the Roots, Zayn sang his vengeful lyrics to an ex moving on with more conviction and stage presence than he has had in his solo run so far. Perhaps it helped to see some familiar faces: Not only was this his second time on the Tonight Show since he went solo, but Roots drummer Questlove is featured on Mind of Mine‘s “Fool for You.”
