Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” Got A Shockingly Faithful Cover From Father John Misty: Watch

Father John Misty operates on the outskirts of the pop world, interacting with it but always keeping it at arm’s length. He pals around with Lana Del Rey, trips on shrooms while recording with Kid Cudi or at Taylor Swift concerts and he has generally made a whole career out of meta music industry commentary, culminating with his cover of Ryan Adams covering Taylor Swift in the style of Lou Reed just to see how many SEO-thirsty sites would run with it.

And now the merry media prankster has performed a cover of Rihanna‘s “Kiss It Better.” But instead of making it into another ironic stunt feeding into his polarizing persona, he actually delivered a faithful rendition of the ANTI standout last night (March 30) in Santa Ana.

This’ll do while we wait for the video and that Miguel version. Watch it below.
