Fantasia's New Single "No Time For It"
Fantasia Barrino leaves the haters behind on new single "No Time For It." Listen.

Fantasia Barrino doles out life advice on “Ugly,” the second taste of fifth LP The Definition Of… (due spring). Produced by Ron Fair, the powerful ballad finds the 31-year-old recounting tales of woe (“picket fence, two-car garage and a man that she don’t love”), before explaining what’s really important. “Thank you for that good good man who loves me,” she belts out over a soulful piano arrangement. “With dirt on my hands and scrapes on my knees.”

While the lyrics veer dangerously close to schmaltz, Fantasia somehow makes every word believable with her sheer authenticity as a person/performer. Don’t be too surprised if “Ugly” turns out to be a crossover hit. It grabs your attention for the first listen and has the big pop hooks “No Time For It” (her previous single) was missing. Fantasia will perform the song for the first time on the series finale of American Idol tomorrow night (April 7). Get familiar with the studio version below.
