New Find: Kirby's "Loved By You"
Newcomer Kirby will make you swoon with soulful ballad "Loved By You." Listen.

There’s a lot of power in a name. Australian folk singer Celia Pavey relaunched in late 2015 as Vera Blue and immediately landed a blog/alternative radio hit with “Hold.” It didn’t take long for the drowsy electro-lullaby to find an international audience — peaking at number 5 on the US Spotify viral top 50 chart. With buzz steadily building, the 22-year-old proves her immaculate debut single was no fluke with the equally evocative “Settle.”

While Vera fully embraced electronica on “Hold,” she takes it in a slightly different direction this time around. The tone is still dark and brooding, but the sound is more organic. Melancholy piano propels the song along with delicate synths merely adding depth and texture. If Lykke Li collaborated with First Aid Kit, it might sound a little something like this. “Settle” will feature on the rising star’s upcoming Fingertips EP. At this rate, it’s shaping up to be an absolute must-listen.
