Kesha Reportedly Subpoenaed By Dr. Luke’s Attorney To Do Taped Deposition Under Oath
The Kesha vs. Dr. Luke saga continues, as a new Daily Mail report states the singer has been subpoenaed by the producer’s attorneys for an on-camera deposition in New York, scheduled for June, where she will be questioned about her sexual assault and rape claims against Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald). Kesha will be deposed while under oath, and the Daily Mail notes that Dr. Luke could be present at the time.
Luke has maintained his innocence since Kesha filed charges against him in 2014, claiming sexual and emotional abuse by the producer during the decade that they worked together. The singer was dealt a legal blow two weeks ago when several of her claims against Dr. Luke were thrown out by New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich, who in February also denied Kesha the injunction she was seeking to free herself of the contract binding her to Luke and Sony’s Kemosabe Records.
Earlier this month, Kesha claimed on Instagram that Luke’s team offered to let her out of her Kemosabe contract if she made a public apology and said she lied about the abuse claims. “I will not take back the TRUTH,” she stated on the photo-sharing social platform. “I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.”
Dr. Luke’s team responded with a statement that, in part, reads, “The only thing Kesha is not free to do is to continue to lie about Dr. Luke through publicity stunts and outrageous smears, ignoring the fact that by her own free will she went to work and entered into new contracts with Dr. Luke years after this ‘incident’ supposedly happened. Her goal all along has been solely personal enrichment by seeking to break contracts that brought her success and millions so she can enter into more lucrative ones. We look forward to our day in court holding Kesha accountable for her lies.”
As always, to be continued.
