Meghan Trainor sings of deserving “Better” in her new song.
Produced by Mr. Frank, Tommy Brown and Ricky Reed, this minimal ballad has her sounding more vulnerable than in previous singles. (That especially goes for the assertive “No,” where Meghan channels Destiny’s Child.) Fortunately, featured rapper Yo Gotti — yes, of “Down in the DM” fame — has got her back. Yes, he admits to slacking, as he tries his best in his verse to win her back. But he and Meghan can agree on at least one thing: She deserves the world.
