The essence of Beyoncé’s second visual album, Lemonade, which premiered Saturday night (April 23) on HBO, is summed up perfectly in a video clip of Jay Z’s grandmother, Hattie White, on her 90th birthday: “I had my ups and downs, but I always found the inner strength to pull myself up. I was served lemons, but I made lemonade.”

The already critically-acclaimed 60-minute film tells a story of infidelity, strife and hope. It also broke the internet, sold 200,000 copies in its first day, and sent us all on a wild-goose chase after a girl named Becky.

But how did Queen Bey and her team celebrate this momentous occasion? They drank lemonade, of course. Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, took to Instagram to congratulate her daughter on the album’s success.

My baby with a jar of lemonade❤️ we just had a lemonade toast!!!

Not to mention, Beyoncé also released her grandmother’s recipe for the film’s titular drink, which she recites in the special. The instructions, as well as a clip of how to actually make the drink, are below.

Agnez Deréon’s Lemonade Recipe

Take one pint of water, add a half-pound of sugar, the juice of 8 lemons, and the zest of half of a lemon.

Pour the water from one jug into the other several times, strain through a clean napkin.
